We are a garden service company working out of Edinburgh, Cambridge and Cheshire.
We specialise in high quality work, we aren't your 'mow, blow and go' gardeners, we are the gardeners who take immense pride in the skilled care and nurture of plants, making sure the plants are in the right place, are healthy and happy.
With a horticultural heritage dating back to the late 1800's plantsmanship is in our blood. The early van den Broek's were nurserymen in Holland before coming over to the UK in the 1940's to start a market and nursery chain in the south of England. It was on one of those nurseries in Surrey (www.englishhedging.com) that the founder of VDB horticulture, Richard van den Broek was brought up.
VDB horticulture started back in 2013 intending to provide garden services with two founding aims,
1. That the quotes for work are as fair to both parties as possible
2. That the jobs are carried out quickly, efficiently and to a high standard
We want to keep it that simple, fair prices for high quality services.
Because our reputation and heritage matter so much to us we ensure that anyone carrying out work under our banner is qualified, passionate and experienced in horticulture, or as in the case of apprentices is working under the eye of an expert. We want you to have peace of mind that your garden will be looked after with the utmost care.
Check out the reviews section to see what existing and past customers are saying about our work.
We specialise in high quality garden maintenance, so why not get in contact to book a viewing and we can work out a quote to suit your requirements.
We take pride in a good reputation for being honest, skilled, putting the customer first, the garden second and ourselves as your servants here to provide the best service we can.
Exciting times are afoot, we are currently working on a garden app called 'Simply Garden' to help people care for their garden, watch this space.
About our founder,
Richard van den Broek is from a long line of Dutch Horticulturalists, the family has been in horticulture since before 1900. His great joy and fascination in studying about and working with plants goes back to the cradle, his first proper word was apparently 'flower', since then he have always been fascinated with gardens and gardening.
He started his first official horticulture course with the HCC at the age of 13. Then he finished a city and guilds horticulture level 3 course in the Summer of 2013, he then struck out to business in August of 2013.
His first business venture was, at the age of 10, propagating plants to sell on the family nursery, followed soon after by starting to maintain local gardens.
He has done placements in a wide variety of horticultural field, most noticeably a two month placement in Holland at a couple of nurseries there in the spring of 2012, aged 17, and a placement at Trinity College Cambridge in the spring of 2013.
He has had experience working at 4 different nurseries and 4 different garden maintenance and landscaping companies, a soft fruit farm, a Cambridge university college garden, and a garden centre.
Wherever he goes, people are impressed by his enthusiasm, hard work and knowledge of horticulture.
We hope to hear from you soon, find contact details here.
